Time-saving Tips for Surviving the Holidays

Between gift shopping, Christmas functions, kids’ holiday pageants, travel and more, everyone feels short on time around the holidays. Here are some time-saving tips and recipes to help you get through this busy time of year.

Prepare in Advance

The more you can do ahead of time, the better.

Hard boil several eggs at once and keep them in the fridge to be used as appetizers in a pinch, or for salads and snacks. See our recipe tips in the “Healthy and Easy Hard Boiled Eggs" article.

For breakfast, try these Muffin Tin Frittatas with Salsa (they can be made the day before and warmed in the oven or microwave), or this Make-Ahead Buttermilk Toaster Waffles recipe, great for kids and when you’ve got company from out of town.

Use Those Leftovers

Making good use of leftovers is economical and can be a big time-saver when preparing meals.

Use leftover rice in this Egg and Shrimp Fried Rice or leftover hard boiled eggs and vegetables in these Egg and Veggie Salad Rolls.

Use leftover turkey and stuffing from that holiday dinner in this Mile-High Eggs Benny for breakfast, or for a unique twist, turn it into an Eggs Benedict Casserole

Have any leftover eggnog? Try out this amazing Eggnog French Toast!

Quick and Easy Dinners

For an easy dinner, try this Basic Frittata (add what you want!) or a Potato Feta Frittata. Need some ideas for an upcoming potluck? Try this Crab and Roasted Red Pepper Strata or these Egg Salad Sliders.

The ingredient list might seem long, but this Italian Penne Bake only has two steps, and it's a definite crowd pleaser!

Cooking eggs in the microwave is always a time-saver. Try these microwave egg-cooker recipes, like this Egg Strata or Microwave Leek and Mushroom Flan.

Saving time in the kitchen means more time sipping eggnog and enjoying the holidays with family!
