Egg Burger

The egg burger is a simple twist on the classic beef burger, substituting the beef patty for an egg. Like any burger, dress it up or down with your own personal combination of toppings and condiments.

  • 1 egg
  • Pinch salt
  • Pinch pepper
  • 1 slice processed cheese
  • 1 hamburger bun, cut in half, warmed or toasted
  • Optional garnishes: Ketchup, relish, lettuce, sliced tomato, sliced sweet pepper, fried mushrooms or crispy bacon

  1. Spray skillet with cooking spray. Heat skillet over medium heat. Break egg into skillet. Break yolk with edge of spatula. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. When egg is almost set, turn over and top with cheese; cook briefly just to melt cheese.
  3. Place egg on bottom half of warmed or toasted hamburger bun. Garnish as desired. Cover with remaining half of bun.

Pizza Eggs: Break 2 eggs into hot non-stick skillet. Sprinkle with finely chopped cooked bacon or pepperoni and parmesan cheese. Cook over low heat for about 1 minute. Add 1 tsp (5 mL) water and cover pan tightly. While eggs are cooking, spread 1 tbsp (15 mL) warmed pizza or tomato sauce on each half of a toasted English muffin. Cook eggs to desired firmness, then place on English muffin halves.

Pita Eggs: Break 2 eggs into moderately hot non-stick skillet. Break yolks with edge of spatula. Sprinkle with chili powder and pepper. Cook eggs to desired firmness, then place in a pita pocket lined with lettuce leaves and tomato slices.
