Gilles Maguet is a third generation farmer based just outside of Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba.
There is one thing that makes his egg farm a little different. In addition to nearly 11,000 hens, it’s home to an apiary full of honeybees. This unique combination has inspired him to name his farm The Birds and the Bees.
This is very much a family operation, Gilles' parents have been known to help out when there’s extra work to be done. With three young daughters, he loves the country way of life the farm affords them.
Gilles enjoys producing honey, but also loves being an egg farmer, showing his passion in how he cares for his hens. "Healthy hens mean healthy eggs," says Gilles, "and we take great pride in producing quality food for all Manitobans to enjoy.”
