From producing and grading to shipping and trading, when it comes to eggs, the Kralls have done it all.
Started by Doug’s grandfather in 1947, the Krall family farm originated as a grading station for local egg farmers. Today, the Petrolia, Ontario farm has grown to 67,000 egg-laying hens and is run by Doug, his wife Judy, and his two brothers, Jim and Mike Krall.
As the beneficiaries of over 65 years of farming experience, these third generation egg farmers are passionate about sharing their wisdom with the next generation. Judy’s active involvement with “Agriculture in the Classroom,” for example, teaches children how to care for hens.
The most important lesson, the Kralls have learned, is that sharing with community is key. That’s why Doug and Judy can still be found at the weekly Petrolia Farmers Market, getting their delicious eggs into the hands of friends and neighbours.
