  • 1 cup (250 mL)granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL)unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup (60 mL)vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp (5 mL)vanilla
  • 1 cup (250 mL)all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp (5 mL)baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp (1.25 mL)salt
  • 1/3 cup (75 mL)icing sugar

    You can prepare the dough balls in advance and freeze them. Let them thaw before dipping them into the icing sugar and bake.

    The first batch I made looked exactly as shown above and had the distinct flavour that I expected. Be conservative on the baking time, closer to the ten minutes suggested, or else they will dry out too much. These will be an annual Christmas cookie, for sure! Thanks for a great recipe!

    Made these cookies today and they are delicious. Pretty to look at delicious to eat, nice chocolate flavour and not to sweet. Excellent!

    This is a very easy recipe and the cookies are so pretty. You definitely need an electric or stand mixer though, the dough is like chocolate tar before it's chilled. Will make these again and again, they're totally yummy!

    If you are a chocolate cookie fan this is a vary good recipe. My sisterinlaw made them for a party we were at on the weekend. They were execelent.
